When did Black Women get their right to vote?
I know that there is a Bill that has to be signed every x amount of years just so black people can vote. But was that for all black people? This lady I work with keeps telling me how important it is for all women to vote because of the struggle. And she sent me some photos from like 1920. But I'm like that wasn't for Black women to vote, just white woman. I know that it wasn't, I'm just not sure when black women got the right to vote as well. I looked and couldn't find anything. Please help =>

Answer :

African-Americans got the right to vote before women did, so legally, Black Women got the right to vote when all women did - in 1920. So before 1920 no women, black or white could vote - therefore pictures from 1920s likely portray women that recently got the right to vote.

In practice, Black women were harassed and denied the right to vote until 1960s, but this has nothing to do with the law (they were entitled to vote in 1920) but with the racism of the officers and administration workers.
