Answer :
Sample Response: How can magnetic and electric fields be demonstrated?
Electromagnetism is defined as the branch of physics, in which interaction between electric and magnetic fields is studied.
In the presence of a magnetic field, the electrons move and produce an electric current. The experiment in which electromagnetism can be shown in the making of an electromagnet.
The electromagnet is a type of magnet, in which a magnetic field is generated due to the presence of electric current.
The experiment in which magnet and simple circuit can examine the concepts of electricity and magnets is making of an electromagnet.
To perform the experiment, the things required are:
copper wire, battery, iron nail, and other small magnetic things.
Steps for conducting the experiments include:
- The copper wire should be wrapped around the iron nail. The one end of the wire should be loose. The wire should form the coil-like structure on the nail.
- The plastic coating of the wire from the loose ends should be removed. The uncoated wires should be attached to the different terminals of the battery.
- Now, the iron nail should be placed near the small magnetic objects. Thus, the magnetic objects will be attracted to the iron nail, explaining the phenomenon of the electromagnetism.
- In the presence of electric fields, the iron nail can be treated as an electromagnet.
Question:
How does the electric field propagate through the magnetic field?
Therefore, electromagnets are the classic demonstration of electric and magnetic fields working together.
